Bay area musician Slim kicking it in front of the Muni -- but look, who's that in the back of the bus?

SLIM is one of the alltime great tribal Rock and Roll bands produced out of MARS, yeah sure there are others, but how many of them have a painting named after them? Baker is like Elvis Costello backed by the Black Crowes. He has rocked crowds of several hundred people with nothing more than an acoustic guitar and a well-timed Britney Spears cover. And his generosity and goodwill abounds. He has donated 100% of the profits from sales of his CD to hurricane Katrina relief. (So has Rick Starbuck by the way, but he doesn't have a painting named after him-- as far as I know).

Like many musicians and artists Baker has little spare cash to acquire fine art. (OK, in all honesty I haven't pushed him on this, so I'm making it up, but really, why else wouldn't he have bought this piece?). So while I urge you all to donate to the victims of the hurricane (do consider what Samuel Jackson brings up regarding where your money goes), I also urge you to consider for a moment supporting your local arts.

The price of "Mike Baker" by Gabriel Mott is $283. Once the goal is hit, Mike Baker will be the proud owner of "Mike Baker".

THE FINE PRINT: 90% of proceeds from this campaign will go towards funkyenough.com productions. I'll be using the remaining funds to buy a plane ticket for a return to the homelands to see family and friends and attend the wedding of loved and favorite people.
